LAHIDAN Student FNCE Scholarship

Application Deadline Extended: June 30, 2025

Purpose

The LAHIDAN Student FNCE® Scholarship is designed to support one undergraduate, graduate student, or dietetic intern in the field of Dietetics/Nutrition by providing financial assistance to attend the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo™ (FNCE®). This scholarship aims to foster the development of future nutrition leaders by providing mentorship and professional growth opportunities.

Award

The selected recipient will receive $800 USD to help cover:

  • FNCE® Registration
  • Travel & Lodging Expenses

Additionally, the recipient will:

  • Be recognized at the LAHIDAN Member Networking Event during FNCE®.
  • Contribute an article for the LAHIDAN newsletter (in collaboration with the editor), to be submitted within 30 days post-FNCE® attendance.
  • Receive the award payment upon submission of the newsletter article.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be an active LAHIDAN student member (undergraduate, graduate student, or dietetic intern).
  • Not be a current member of the Nominating/Awards Committee or the LAHIDAN Executive Committee.

Selection Criteria

The Nominating Committee will review applications based on the following:

  • Application Submission:
    • Typed and electronically submitted by June 30, 2025.
    • Must notify the Nominating Committee Chair, Areli Gutierrez (areligutierrez.rd@hotmail.com) after submission.
  • FNCE® Attendance & Participation:
    • Must be able to travel to FNCE® (October 11-14, 2025, in Nashville, TN).
    • Assist in LAHIDAN events for up to 1 hour as assigned by the Executive Committee.
    • Be willing to volunteer 4-6 hours during FNCE®.
  • Required Documentation:
    • Verification of enrollment in a college program or dietetic internship (program director must sign the application).
    • Current or last GPA (if applicable).
    • Resume submission.
    • Personal Statement (Max. 2 pages, double-spaced), which should include:
      • Career goals and aspirations.
      • How attending FNCE® will support career development.
      • Interest in the field of nutrition.

Submit your completed application via email to LAHIDAN@eatright.org by June 30, 2025.

  • Important: After submission, you must notify the Nominating Committee Chair, Areli Gutierrez, at areligutierrez.rd@hotmail.com to confirm receipt. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
